Talon6 advanced controllers for RoR and Dome astronomical observatories and their accessories. This is a group of advanced electronic systems designed for the safety control, robotization, automation, and manual use of Roll Off Roofs or domes for astronomical observatories and auxiliary equipment. The project is supported by the experience and security and control needs of users of robotic and remote astronomical observatories since 2005. The Talon6 RoR and Dome systems feature an ASCOM driver, controllable from a PC and automation programs, allowing the roof to open and close automatically at the beginning and end of the photography session. Talon6 adds the security offered by its systems for monitoring power supply flow, internet outages, PC connection, programmable closing timers, and monitoring the status of meteorological sensors. The Talon6 produces silent motor movements (controlled by a 32-bit microprocessor), smoothly accelerating to maximum speed and then slowing down softly until stopping. We are currently moving roofs weighing 550 kg without fatigue on hundreds of observatories. For larger loads, we have two models available: the Talon6 HD and DUO, capable of moving 1,200 and 2,500 kg, respectively. MODELS FOR ROOFS AND DOMES • Talon6 RoR, for Roll Off Roofs with integrated motor and encoder, roof sensors, and mount. Up to 700 kg. • Talon6 RoR HD, for sliding roofs from 700 to 1,200 kg, with integrated motor and encoder, roof sensors, and mount. • Talon6 DUO, for shared sliding roofs from 1,200 to 2,500 kg, with 2 motors and integrated encoder, roof sensors. • Talon6 Dome, for domes with our 2 motors and integrated encoders with Open Closed sensors in the Shutter and Home sensor in the dome, motorized dome and shutter. There is an option for lower shutter control. They are also available as Dome HD and DUO) We can adapt it to different motor configurations depending on the dome diameter and requirements; contact us. Continuous notifications of the roof status on the Talon6 RoR/DOME driver Open (magnetic sensor or limit switch) • Closed (magnetic sensor or limit switch) • Exact roof position in percentage and progress bar via encoder. • Last action performed. • Continuous current status of the sensors via light signals on the driver. • Countdown bar for safety closure, active or programmed by the user. • Supply voltage and CPU temperature. • Local time and date • USB or Wi-Fi connection type Talon6 also continuously monitors the following safety conditions: • Loss of communications with the PC. • Loss of internet communications. • Status of the Cloudwatcher switch, Cloud Sensor, MeteoWatcher, etc. • Loss of 220V power before the UPS. (Uninterruptible Power Supply) • Mount park status. • Countdown to a scheduled closure. (Parks the mount before closing, in the presence of the driver) • Pressing or testing the keypad • Locking and unlocking the driver for group or hosting observatories, parking all telescopes before closing the observatories. It is capable of reacting safely to any of these eventualities by ordering the mount to park and the roof to close.

Other system features. Direct Park command (from the controller) in case of loss of communication with the PC for mounts: Gemini Losmandy, Astrophysic, Paramount, LX200, 10Micron, iOptron, etc. (TAPI OPTIONAL). • Direct connection to IP-SWITCH for automatic shutdown of equipment at the end of the session or due to a security shutdown. • Automatic search for the communications port at the beginning of the USB connection. • Automatic reconnection of the communications port to the PC if it is lost. • Reconnection or switching from USB to Wi-Fi (or vice versa) due to loss of communication. • Maximum opening control when a mount is not parked. • Slow closing of the roof when a mount is not parked (configurable). • Automatic opening and closing of Scopecover synchronized with the status of the roof. • Manual synchronization of the roof position by the user, etc. • Emails sent in the event of a shutdown due to automation or a lockout condition, as well as in the event of a motor lockout. • Status broadcast and commands accepted via the Internet (Talon6 Remote). • Automatic opening for ventilation, defining the percentage and opening period. • Status recording (roof position, last action, etc.) via FRAM memory in the event of an abrupt power loss or reset. • Automatic processor restart in the event of a lockout, using an internal watchdog and an external guard processor. • IP67 Open, Close, and Stop external pushbutton panel. • On-board pushbutton panel. • On-board light sensors for Cloud Watcher status detection, Parked Mount, Open Sensor, Closed Sensor, and Home for the domes. • Acoustic signals for opening and closing commands, Open and Closed sensor detection, Stop commands, and activation and deactivation of safety measures. Basically, Talon6 will park the mount and close the observatory in any of the aforementioned eventualities, except in the case of loss of communication with the PC due to a blockage or shutdown, in which case the roof or dome will be closed without parking (except in those that have direct communication with Talon, as mentioned above, or with the TAPI add-on) due to mount driver errors, and whenever the user wants, and through a simple configuration in the driver setup... In addition to being able to be controlled from the PC, in the presence of the user in the observatory, Talon6 can be used manually, with the keypad included on the control box, which allows us to Open/Close/Stop/disable and enable the security measures, or remotely, by activating an external relay using a relay controller with a Web Server such as the IP-Switch. Practical example: How our equipment would act: Let's imagine we have run an automation program with its work order and it has NOT finished when Talon6 detects a power loss condition (with the sensor monitoring the mains connection)... 1- Talon6 (RoR or DOME) would close any automation programs running on the PC to avoid interference (configurable). 2- Talon6 would send us an email notifying us of a safety shutdown. 3- It would park the mount. 4- It would close the Roof or Shutter and close the Scope Cover. 5- Once the roof is closed, Talon6 would send us another email giving us information on the status of the Roof, Mount, Cloudwatcher/MeteoWatcher, 220V AC status, etc. 6- IP-Switch SSR would automatically shut down the equipment programmed in its setup. Add-ons for the automation of astronomical observatories. IP-SWITCH SSR and SSR SCHUKO This system is used to turn equipment on and off. It includes a Web Server, a LAN and Wi-Fi connection, 7 Solid State Relays filtered with snubber suppressors and a direct 220V output. 3 ON/OFF relays allow you to remotely turn your observatory's equipment on, off, or operate it. Features: 10 outputs. 32-bit processor. Refreshes changes without reloading the website. Automatic reconnection. 7 SSR relays that directly supply 220V. 1 relay with Normally closed contact, max. 10A (NC), programmable to automatically reset the router if internet connection is lost. 2 relays with open and closed contacts, 125V 0.5A / 30V 1.5A (NO/NC), intended for signals. Connection via LAN or Wi-Fi. The IP-Switch SSR Schuko model has the same features and includes mounting and wiring for eight 16Amp rail-mounted sockets. You can also control these manually from within the observatory with three programmable buttons, without the need for a PC or the Internet. All relays are programmable with a Time Out.
